Tokyo Potted Garden
I love the cute little potted gardens popping up around every corner in Tokyo. Don't you?
My mum has the sweetest little veggie patch at her home complete with tomatoes, strawberries, two types of cucumbers and a selection of herbs. I, on the other hand, have a collection of dead and half dying plants left over from the time I went out and spent $250 at the nursery in attempt to create my own Tokyo potted garden.
Today my mum visited and set about sharing some of her gardening tips with me. Together we took cuttings from some of the more alive looking plants and planted them in the unhappiest looking pots. Later my boyfriend came along with the watering can. If in time, we have successfully raised these cuttings, I will secretly know it was because of the love and care from the three of us. Fingers crossed!

the potted gardens of japan - so wonderful! it's like guerilla gardeners but without the horrible channel 7(?) production. the pingmag link to their garden photos is so great - oh how sad they are on hiatus.
ReplyDeletei hope your little garden grows:)
well if you dont have a big garden you have to do the best you can anyway!
ReplyDeleteOw thank you Bree. Yes aren't they wonderful! I am always stopping to admire them whilst walking around Tokyo. I always want to bring home the cute lattice and mini fences from Japanese gardening stores! They have the best everything in Japan don't they! sigh.
ReplyDeleteVera - thank you for your comment! Yes, it's true, even the smallest of spaces can be turned into a mini splash of nature using plants in containers!

ReplyDeleteIt's interesting for me to find that you think Japanese potted garden cute! For us Japanese those gardens are too common to pay special attention to... So your view is such an eye-opener for me! I also love bento, lovely food designs, visiting small contemporary galleries in Tokyo. I love your blog and look forward to your new articles!
