My Japanese Passport

Do you like my Japanese passport?
It's moleskin and metallic gold pen and perhaps the closest I'll ever get to being a Nihon-jin.

Mr Y got an Australian one too!

Do you think I could turn up on the Border Security show?

A Lovely Little Beach Side Holiday

Hello Sandwiches! Happy Holidays! Mr Y and I just returned from a lovely little beach side holiday down on the South Coast. Dear Plastic came to visit too.

Our little private beach access track.

Eeeep! Some cute little bunnies!

On our way to Long Beach North.

This sweet roadside stall near Nowra sells the most gorgeous home grown Dahlia's! Sadly it was sold out on the day we drove past.

Vintage linen purchased at a local Culburra Garage Sale.

Owww I desperately wanted to steal this super cute memory game, or at least make drawings of every card. But, good karma to me, I did the right thing and left it in it's little holiday home for other guests to enjoy. sob sob. Dear Plastic and I had such a lovely time playing this one night.

I just loved this garden gnome installation I spied in a local window.

Oh! And sankaku triangle homes! How adorable! I want to live in a triangle house please!

Preferably a Tiffany blue beach side sankaku house please. What more could you ask for?

Perhaps a Tiffany blue mamachari bike to match! This one was spotted at the Berry Wood-fired Sourdough Bakery on the way back to Sydney. Such a great little cafe.Worth a stop over if you are in the area.

Bye bye beach side holiday. Miss you already.

Happy holidays sandwiches.

Hello Sandwich Potato Stamping

A few nights ago my Aunty Nin and I had a lovely Potato Stamping Evening at Hello Sandwich Headquarters. What a great evening it was! Potato stamping is so much fun - instant, effective and the stamping creates such oh-so-lovely textures. The finished products (to be used as gift wrapping) were rolled up and given as teeny tiny tokens to team members in my office.

Speaking of gift wrapping, did you see my guest blog entry over at Do's Family? It was such an honour to be with such amazing creative company and share some gift wrapping tips.

Happy Holidays Sandwiches.

Studio Toogood

Photographs by Tom Mannion

Goodness me I am so excited to show you this! I have been waiting until these images came out of embargo. Now I can share with you the amazing work of Studio Toogood.

The Hatch is a pop-up installation and architectural eatery designed for London Design Festival 2009.

'Inspired by the colours and patterns of 20th-century art and architecture, the studio devised a series of giant, hand-painted building blocks covered in Formica laminate. Visitors were encouraged to sit on - and interact with - these sculptural elements.

In the dining area, guests had a go at constructing their own mini modernist building, either by copying one of the templates provided by The Modern House or experimenting with their own design.

Conceptual food designers Arabeschi di Latte ran an interactive food bar that played on the primary element of creation, the egg. Diners were invited to choose from a variety of Italian egg-based dishes, and given a 'kit' with which to prepare it. Each dish was then added to an ever-evolving recipe collection, and those wishing to share their recipe had the opportunity of running their own egg 'workshop'.

See more here, here or even here when I did a small mention about Arabeschi di Latte in my 2008 Tokyo Design Report.

Amazing huh? I want to live in a house like that - it reminds me of David Hockney's stage sets.

Hand-made Heart Tote

Inspired by this 'How to sew your own tote bag' tutorial by gorgeous little Sarah from Sarah's Loft blog, I made this reversible tote bag for my dear friend Yumi. A little while later I made another for Gracie. I think it's so lovely to be able to give your friends something hand-made don't you? And with Sarah's excellent tutorial you can make some for your own friends and family this Christmas. Thank you Sarah!

Happy sewing sandwiches!
